Setting Intentions

When I started writing a blog I promised myself I would be consistent with it and the intention was definitely there and then things happen in your life and it all grinds to a halt and the excuses come and you don’t write. Have you ever felt like that? It’s called procrastination!

However I am going to admit that there have been big things in my life that have got in my way and they are absolutely valid. At the end of September last year I lost my Mum. 6 months ago almost to the day we were driving across France to get home so that I could spend some time with her in the last few days of her life and I’m so glad I did even though I can’t be sure she knew I was there, I just trust that she did.

And, after that, apart from my own grief, we had the funeral and her estate to sort out and her house to clear plus our own house to put on the market so we could move there as it has long been our plan to do so two out of three of the most stressful life events. And I’ll admit it’s been tough and it’s not over yet. But now I’m back in France enjoying some sunshine and giving myself time to relax a bit. It’s only been three days since we arrived and it’s a joy.

Now I don’t tell you this for sympathy at all, I tell you this so that we can all recognise that we need time to recover from the more stressful times and that sometimes things just have to wait and we can’t adhere to our self imposed high standards .. I know I’m not the only one.

And I made a decision at the turn of the year that if I was going to continue to work it was going to be on my terms and only what brought me joy. It was a great decision and however tired I have felt at times I have loved my work and it’s amazing what can happen. Two of the goals I set myself for 2024 were to launch my Tales of Transformation podcast and start Book No 2. I launched my podcast on International Women’s day and have loved chatting to my amazing guests. I’ll post the spotify and apple links at the end of this blog and I would love you to follow it.

As for Book No 2 I have talked about that for so long I honestly thought it was never going to happen. But, as luck would have it, someone I know was running a “Write Your Own Business Book” 8 week programme which I have just completed and through it I have rediscovered the joy of writing. I’m well into it now and have decided while I’m out here that I am going to write 500 words most days and so far I have loved it. Hence I’ve started blogging again and will get it right back in my schedule!

I’ve entitled this blog “Setting Intentions” because whatever else has been going on in my life I set these intentions at the beginning of the year and that’s where you focus and the opportunities arise. Another opportunity that arose was to have an article about me in Metro online and it was published in January and my world went mad. My Facebook Group doubled in one week from 400 to over 800 members and guess what - I had set an intention for the membership to grow to a 1000  in 2024! I’m well on the way

So the point of this blog is to say make sure you set your intentions/ goals, call them what you will and say yes to opportunities. I actually prefer to call them intentions as I find goals to be too harsh and if I don’t achieve them I have a sense of failure. Also remember to be kind to yourself at the same time because the timing isn’t always right!!

And please listen to my podcast and please join my facebook community .. those are my two asks!

Lots of love xx
